Susanna Majuri & Lau Nau (FIN)
This evening Landmark will be turned into the mysterious tales of Finnish photographer Susanna Majuri accompanied by the tunes of forest folk musician Lau Nau. For the first time the two will let their expressions merge and channel through new forms as a kind of performance and installation. During the performance an intimate reportage of Susanna Majuri, shown on national TV in Finland, will be screened as well. And on special request from the artists, DJ Cyber Puppy 007 from Bergen will round up the evening with dance-friendly electro beats.
Separately, Majuri (1978) has exhibited her photographs internationally both individually and through the Helsinki School. She graduated from the Turku Arts Academy in 2004 and has an M.A. in photography from the University of Art and Design in Helsinki. In 2005 Majuri won the photography prize of the Gras Savoye Award in Arles, France. Susanna currently is the artist-in-residency at Flaggfabrikken and her next group exhibition will be at the Turku Biennale that opens on May 9th.
Lau Nau is the sounds of Laura Naukkarinen, a Finnish musician situated in the remote countryside of the Kemiö island in the south of Finland. Here, Naukkarinen creates vast soundscapes with a DIY approach to traditional folk music mixed with the immediate influence by nature and every day family life in Finland. Lau Nau has performed in New York, Stockholm, and Glasgow as well as creating soundtracks for movies and back drops for photo exhibitions around the world.
Susanna and Laura used to have a band together called Jolie.
